The 2024 HGMD budget was adopted by unanimous vote on October 12, 2023. The prior District Board had continually reduced funding for the restaurant and clubhouse to minimize the subsidy that all Heather Gardens residents pay, and that's understandable. We all want to minimize costs. But, costs can only be reduced so far without effecting the services provided and degrading the care of the properties. 

The clubhouse needs some attention, and the restaurant has been so underfunded for so long that it is barely functional, and doesn't meet anyone's needs. We have committed to an all out effort to make the restaurant successful. Residents have told us they want breakfast served, and they want dinner served until 8 pm.

The kitchen design needs some tweaking, and we need to replace equipment that was purchased used to allow full service.  We cannot reduce the subsidy by reducing costs any further. Our only option is to increase revenue. We can do this by increasing the restaurant's capacity, and extending the hours.

We hope to offer take-out service, and look for delivery options. This funding will allow the restaurant to expand events and specials that all our residents have requested, including dinner before and after auditorium events.
